Relationships With Women

“There’s no sensationalism in just saying, ‘Oh, look at this Muslim. Look! She’s going out and feeding the homeless,’” says Khadijah Rivera and Jill Mraida of Tampa. “We’re not getting that message out.”

Until now.

VOA’s “Muslims’ America” heads to Florida to find out how women are reaching out to help not only their sisters in Islam, but also their community at large as well as people of other faiths.

Piedad (http://hispanicmuslims.com/piedad/) began as a support group for Spanish-speaking converts to Islam. But the group’s mission soon expanded to accommodate all Muslim women, and then the entire community, regardless of faith.

Khadijah Rivera is one of the bonding forces behind Piedad, she’s not just a social activist, community worker but is also a mother. And when she’s done teaching at a local school in Tampa bay, she teaches English to Burmese immigrant children.

Khadijah says, “When you are helping the needy for food, clothing or shelter, then faith, does not matter, we are all children of God”.

“When you first come to Islam, you are leaving one world behind, but you’re not fully comfortable in the new world yet,” says Jill Mraida who is also trying to maintain balance between her faith and her obligations as a community worker and a mother.

Imran Siddiqui visits with the women of Piedad to learn about their experiences as Muslims, as mothers, and as Americans.

Recently, I have been seeing a lot of Asian men going out with White, Latina, and Black women. I thought Asian men are suppose to stick to Asian women. I am a Asian woman find this is awkward. Everybody in the US knows that Asian men don’t make a good husband due to their lack of social skill and not being fit.

If you think all Asian men are unfit, lack social skills and make bad husbands, why do you care if they go out with women of other ethnicities? Surely you should be looking for a good, fit, socially adept husband from another ethnic group?

If you are representative of all Asian women, I’m not surprised they are looking elsewhere!

According to scholars and Bible commentaries, the most reliable early manuscripts of the Gospel of Mark and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20, but end with Mark 16:8: Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

According to scholars, the Gospel of Mark was the earliest gospel and the most reliable, and that the other gospels were written many years after the death of Mark, that the Gospel of Mark was used as a source for the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, because the authors of Matthew and Luke, were not Matthew and Luke themselves, and the Gospel of John was largely unreliable and was forged by an anonymous author.

Why did the early manuscripts of the Gospel of Mark not include the resurrection of Jesus, as stated in Mark 16:9-20?

Some scholars have given these hypotheses about this issue:

* Mark intentionally ended his Gospel at 16:8, and someone else (at an early date) wrote the concluding lines.
* Mark did not intend to end at 16:8, but was somehow prevented from finishing (perhaps by his own death), whereupon another person finished the work before it was released for church-use.
* The Gospel originally contained a different (perhaps similar) ending that was lost, for one reason or another, whereafter the current ending was added.
* Verses 16:9–20 are authentic, and were omitted or lost from the Sinaiticus and Vaticanus for one reason or another, perhaps accidental, perhaps intentional.
* Verses 16:9–20 were added later to conform with the endings from the other Gospels.

This is terribly garbled. Mark is probably the earliest Gospel, and the earliest existing manuscripts do end as you say. But Matthew and Luke, which used Mark and Q as a source, were written not long afterwards (most likley between 60 and 80 CE), and John was written between 100 and 120. All four Gospels (but especially John) seem to include oral material. Whatever, it is clear that the Resurrection narrative was widely accepted by the early Church already at the time when Paul was writing his letters.

For some reason I just cant help myself. I am a lesbian and it does not matter where I am, I always seem to flirt and pick up woman. I have a girlfriend but, when she is not around, I’m on it… I spend every night with my gf ( for the past 5 years) but, after work- I could go to a bar, pick up a girl, do my thing at a hotel or go to their place, then I would go home to my gf. Women are just so beautiful to me, black,white,italian,mexican,short,tall,big,small- I just cant help it. Something wrong with that?

There’s nothing wrong with you loving women. Women are beautiful, all shapes, sizes and cultures, you’re bound to find something beautiful. I love women with a passion. So no…there’s nothing wrong with that.

But if u are telling your partner that she is the only one in your life in all aspects, INCLUDING PHYSICALLY, then what u r doing is lying and being extremely manipulative & THAT is wrong. Flat out. If u can’t be with one woman and be completely satisfied, you need to be honest with yourself and with your grlfriend and get out of the relationship Or at least, let her in on it and have a open relationshp. It’s unfair and rude to lie to her.

I think that it would probably catch on if it’s written well and is an up to date kind of story. An example of this kind of story would be ‘Point Pleasant’. It was on tv though, but the idea was kind of the same in that the devil himself was pulling the strings on the storyline. I thought it was good and it was a nice diversion from the same old supernatural kind of stuff. )O(
